Who
We Are
Shevet
Achim was founded in 1994 with the purpose of helping
non-Israeli children receive lifesaving medical care in Israel. Our
name is taken from the Hebrew of Psalm 133, which promises that unity
between brothers leads to life; we believe this to be true of the
troubled relationship between Isaac and Ishmael (Jews and Muslims) in
the Middle East. To live this out we seek to "go and do
likewise" as
the Good Samaritan, who crossed lines of division to show that an enemy
is in fact a neighbor also loved by God.
We work
from the historic building in Jerusalem which
housed the first children's hospital in the Middle East, and are
registered in Israel as a non-profit organization,
overseen by a board which includes Chuck Kopp, pastor of the Narkis
Street International Congregation in Jerusalem; Jonathan Miles,
international coordinator of Shevet Achim; David Pileggi, rector of
Christ Church in Jerusalem; and Jim Schutz, local
congregations
liaison with the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem. National
affiliates of Shevet Achim are registered in the

the poor, and follow me." While some funds from

little ones, for all other personal needs our staff are trusting God to
provide. Friends can be part of this by giving designated personal
support using the links below; please note the option of signing up for

 | Donna Petrel, Family Care
Coordinator
Donna experienced a series of heart-shattering
circumstances in the mid-1990s which God used to begin teaching her
about His heart for reconciliation. From then on she has desired to see
the passion and compassion of God's love bring people to reconciliation
with God and with each other, thus bringing down every wall of
separation between us. Donna helps host families in Amman as they wait
for visas, escorts them to Israel, and helps host them there before,
during and after their heart surgeries. Contact her
