Lozan's Heart Surgery
Tuesday,
May 6, 2008Happy "Hello Again"Filed
by The door opened and the first thing I could see was four
smiling faces. How great to meet Lozan and Kale and their mothers again in Jordan! After they had dinner, we had a
few minutes to talk about their experiences in Israel. Kale and Lozan
both looked very good. They were smiling all the time.
They were probably very excited to go home to see their families.
Lozan's and Kale's mothers
were very thankful and we all could see that something changed their
hearts.
The sorrows they had when they arrived at our house in February seem to
have
been lost in Haifa. Please keep praying for them!

Lozan is very anxious to go
home to Iraq as soon as possible.
Lozan was
walking around in smiles, excited to be finally going home.

Lozan got a clean
bill of health today and was told, "You can go home now."
Lozan's
mother is in the midst of seeing a doctor for some medical reasons of
her own. Once that is concluded, they will be on their way home.Click

by
Lozan
is doing very well today, and looks like she is ready to go. While we
were visiting, one of her baby teeth fell out, but she took it in
stride, smiling. Lozan is scheduled for another echo next week to see
if she is ready to go home.

LightFiled
by Today
Lozan was at the apartment doing well and enjoying the small
games
and activities that are keeping her occupied. Looks like Lozan is ready
to go home, just waiting on the doctor's green light after her next
(and hopefully last) echo. Click

March 17, 2008Celebrating Palm SundayFiled
by
This
morning Lozan had her echocardiogram and checkup. Dr. Braver said that
the surgery was successful, but that Lozan has a little pericardial
effusion (fluid around the heart). With some medication she will be
alright. In one week she will have another echo. Let us pray that it
will be excellent.
I want to ask you to pray too for
Lozan's mother, who needs to see a gynecologist while she is here in
Haifa.
Lozan, her mother and the other Iraqi
families attended our Palm Sunday church service. Lozan and Kucher
had candles and joined the children's march. Before we dissmissed the
people, we had a special prayer for the Iraqi children who are in Haifa
and for Karim
in Tel HaShomer hospital in Tel Aviv.

Hours of SurgeryFiled
by Less
than 18 hours after her surgery, Lozan was removed from the respirator
and stable. Today she gave me many smiles and waves and is recovering
quite well. The doctors said surgery went well and they expect a quick
and full recovery. Click

Thursday,
March 6, 2008Lozan Has Successful SurgeryFiled
by After
her surgery was postponed from Wednesday, Lozan finally had her surgery
this afternoon. Dr. Bar - El said it was a successful one. Right away
Lozan was taken to the ICU, where we could see her. She was still
asleep, connected to the machines and the different tubes.
Lozan's
mother was thankful to God for the successful surgery, but she still
had tears in her eyes while she was answering the several phone calls
from the husband and the different family members back home. The only
few Kurdish words I could understand were "bash" (good), "su pass" (thanks),
and "khwahafeez"
(see you). Lozan's mother got her room, we prayed
togather and thanked God for His care and mercies. Yesterday
I took Karim
and Kucher
with me to spend some time with Lozan and her mother who were waiting
for the surgery that was postponed until this afternoon.

Tuesday, March 4, 2008 Lozan To Surgery Tomorrow Filed
by
Monday
we had a very busy day, yet we experienced God's grace in a wonderful
way. I started early in the morning, taking my two
daughters,
one at a time, to their hospitals, then I went to Rambam to get Lozan
and her mother back home. Sunday, Lozan had a cath and this
morning had another echo.
The doctor was gracious to
explain to
me Lozan's heart problem in detail. She has an ASD (atrial septal
defect) between the atria. The right two pulmonary arteries go to the
right atrium instead of to the left one. So they need to close the ASD
and connect the two pulmonary arteries to the left atrium. God willing,
this will heal Lozan's heart and she will be able to have a normal
life.
 I
send you my warmest greetings from the beautiful city of Haifa. Haifa
is still hosting Iraqi children for their heart surgeries. Some have
left the city and gone back home, but not before experiencing God's
grace and mercies. Some are still in the city waiting for their last
check up or their surgery.
This afternoon, I
received a
telephone call from the surgery room in Rambam asking me to admit Luzan
at the children's section. She will have her surgery, God willing,
tomorrow morning. Apparently there is a vacant bed in the ICU.
Lozan
was admitted, got her bed and had her regular tests. She is now ready
for an early open-heart surgery tomorrow morning. Let us all pray that
Jesus would supervise Lozan's surgery. Pray for us as we accompany
Lozan's mother during the surgery. Usually we read with the mothers
Psalm 34 and some other promises from the New Testament. Click

February 27, 2008 Lozan To Hospital For Tests
Thursday Filed
by
Tomorrow
morning I will take Lozan to the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa for her
blood tests. She will leave the
hospital the same day and return to the Shevet family apartment where
is she and her mother are staying with two other Iraqi families.
We will return on Saturday evening to the hospital in
preparation for her
catheterization on Sunday morning. This will clearly demonstrate the
anatomy of her heart in preparation for surgery.

Monday,
February 18, 2008 Grinning Lozan Reaches
Jordan En
Route to Israel Filed
by
Eight-year-old
Lozan has a
permanent grin on her face. She is the only child of her
mother, and was born in Kurdish Iraq, the same place where her parents
were
born. At
the moment her family is finding
it hard to make ends meet as her father is very sick and now cannot
work. Her mother
tells us calmly that during the Saddam government her family as well as
her husband’s were killed when Saddam used chemical weapons
against the Kurds. Now years later Lozan’s father is still
suffering from the
effects of these chemicals. Without any grandparents or much extended
family to help them monetarily, Lozan's mother has
to work at a government office whilst looking after her
husband and daughter. One day, she hopes, they will all be healthy and
live happily. Lozan is quite the little
musician, when she sings worship songs with us she has the most
beautiful
voice. You can tell by the grin on her face that she loves every second
of it.
